Ayra: fogging disinfectant device for indoor environments

A B2B guide to Ayra Standard, Trolley and Mini sanitizers: high-pressure fogging, air and surface hygiene, battery autonomy, timers and SDC solution pairing.

Ayra: fogging disinfectant device for indoor environments

What Ayra does in an indoor space

Ayra is an Italy-developed room disinfectant device designed to stay compact and movable. It does not treat one surface at a time only: it fogs a sanitizing liquid through high-pressure micro-nozzles (about 15 kg/cm²) in pulse mode, so droplets reach air, surfaces and gaps that are hard to wipe by hand.

Indicative droplet size is around 50 microns. As they evaporate quickly, they join room humidity, contact the environment and help maintain effective hygiene for extended periods when cycles are programmed correctly. The declared advantage is not surface coverage alone: the system also addresses airborne particles.

In capacity terms, Ayra can disinfect about 1,500 m³ of air in 5 hours, with treatment around 300 m³/h by programming cycle times and repeating disinfection. These are reference figures: real volume, layout, furniture and liquid type affect results. A serious brief therefore starts from cubic metres, area downtime and operating goals, not only from the model name.

Why an autonomous device changes the protocol

In infection-prevention and cleaning protocols, disinfectant has long been a central step. After the COVID-19 pandemic it became even clearer that public and private indoor spaces need repeatable solutions, not only occasional interventions. Ayra aims to support continuous safety cycles so guests and staff perceive a methodically managed environment.

Unlike many electrostatic systems that need an operator present throughout application, Ayra is conceived as an autonomous device. Thanks to its patented design it can be deployed in multiple positions, with weekly, daily and hourly ON/OFF timers and optional wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. Less labour tied to a single pass means the same cleaning or facility team can cover more rooms.

Build quality, liquids and autonomy

Ayra units are fully stainless steel; liquid-contact parts are AISI 316 and Teflon, a typical choice when working with repeated sanitizing solutions. Various disinfectant liquids can be fogged: the machine is the carrier, the liquid must be chosen by label, sector and client protocol.

With wheels (Standard and Trolley versions), units move between zones. Two rechargeable batteries allow operation for a period without a wall socket: useful in hotels, clinics and offices where power is not always next to the treatment area. Indicative autonomy with two 12 V batteries is about 5 hours, aligned with the coverage cycle above.

Ayra Standard and Ayra Trolley: reference specs

Standard and Trolley share most of the technical platform. Both use 100-240 V 50/60 Hz supply, 100 W maximum installed power, about 45 W average at full power and about 8 W in standby. They carry 2 sealed 12 V 7 Ah batteries, indicative size 850 × 400 × 250 mm (H × W × D) and weight around 20 kg.

The clearest difference is ergonomics: the Trolley version adds an elegant handle so it can be carried like travel luggage, in addition to wheels. Both can include ON/OFF timers for weekly programming and, optionally, a wireless module, Bluetooth, SIM antenna and SIM card (UART, SPI, SDIO, I2C, PWM, TVPWM, I2S, IRGPIO interfaces). Connectivity is optional: it matters when managing several units or wanting remote supervision.

Ayra Mini for small spaces

Ayra Mini is the very compact version, designed to sit on furniture or shelves without dominating the room. It fits when the goal is not an open space but keeping small rooms hygienic: receptions, studios, small meeting rooms, changing rooms, booths or service corners. Optional battery operation (12 V 2.2 Ah) with a handle supports short moves without a cable.

In multi-site projects it makes sense to mix sizes: Trolley or Standard for halls and corridors, Mini for fixed low-volume points. The protocol stays consistent (same fogging approach and validated liquids) while hardware follows real room geometry.

Pairing with SDC solution and application sites

Ayra can run with different disinfectants; in Project Vending's offer it is often paired with the silver dihydrogen citrate (SDC) solution already covered in the Xaniair articles. SDC is a colourless, odourless, non-caustic aqueous base with a broad-spectrum profile and declared residuality up to 24 hours per product dossier. Reference active ingredients in the cited formulation: silver ions 0.003%, citric acid 4.846%, water 95.151%.

Effect times listed on sheets (from 30 seconds to a few minutes on selected bacteria and viruses, up to 5 minutes on some fungi) must be read as liquid-label data, not as an automatic guarantee of the device alone. Typical application sites remain homes, offices, hospitals, restaurants, schools, hotels, restrooms, leisure facilities and public transport, always within label and local protocols. On unvalidated surfaces, run a preliminary spot test.

How to set up a project with Project Vending

A useful brief states cubic metres or areas, hours when the space can be treated, whether people are present during or after the cycle, any liquid already approved by the client, and whether fixed units (Mini) or mobile ones (Standard/Trolley) are needed. Adding weekly timer or connectivity needs early avoids discovering on site that the optional version was required.

Project Vending integrates Ayra into the sanitization line alongside Xaniair and solutions for hospitality and healthcare. For a concrete assessment, use the contact form with project type «Sanitization»: start from layout and goal, then choose model, liquid and cycle plan. The aim is a repeatable protocol, not a one-off demo pass.

FAQ

Does Ayra only disinfect surfaces?

No. Fogging acts on air and surfaces, including gaps that are hard to reach by hand, according to the programmed cycle.

How much volume can it treat?

The project reference is about 1,500 m³ in 5 hours, around 300 m³/h, repeating cycles. Results depend on layout and liquid.

What is the difference between Standard and Trolley?

They share the main platform and specs; Trolley adds a travel-style handle for easier carrying.

Does it work without mains power?

Yes, for the autonomy of the rechargeable batteries (indicatively about 5 hours on Standard/Trolley).

Can it be used only with SDC?

No. Ayra can fog various disinfectant liquids. SDC is one of the solutions offered in the Project Vending range.

What is Ayra Mini for?

Small fixed spaces: it sits on furniture or shelves and keeps local treatment without a floor-standing footprint.
